Rap Superstar
If you had one shot or one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted in one moment would you capture it or just let it slip? So do you think you could put your rhyming style against the best in Hip Hop, or could you be your own instrument and perform a human beat box in front of thousands? Whatever your abilities, Rap Superstar is ideal for you. A recently established record label is looking for the next big musical talent and is offering a multi million pound, five-album deal. A-ZR Records was founded by Tom Bell (aka Tom A-Z) in 2005 who established his name in the underground Hip Hop scene, then went on to produce and discover some of the biggest and best in the industry. However, A-ZR Records are looking for more than just a Hip Hop act. They want an entire team who will perform, manage and market the act from start to finish. Think you’re up to the challenge? How it works
Initially teams will only be supplied with basic song lyrics (a chorus) and a theme to write a song about, all of which will be the same but will all need added to with the goal of having full song lyrics (one verse at 16bars and the chorus). Then it is your job to work as a team to be the most successful throughout the rounds. You will need to answer questions and perform tasks and the better your team performs throughout the rounds, the better your options will be when coming to choose your costumes, design and marketing equipment and studio time. Teamwork is essential to complete this challenge (especially if this genre of music is unfamiliar to you). You will need to work together to complete tasks in order to gain more practice for your end performance, while your design and marketing will still need to be up to scratch. Teams will need to manage their time well in order to write lyrics and complete the tasks. Once all the rounds are complete, teams will be given a set period of time to complete lyrics, design a cd cover, produce a marketing poster and practice their performance which will be judged by the MD of A-ZR Records Tom A-Z. The successful team will win the money and record contract while the unsuccessful teams suffer the humiliation of not being able to cut it. This task requires planning, teamwork, trust in your team mate’s abilities and organisation. The winning team will be the team with the best overall performance, marketing and cd cover design.
